Greek antifeminism

Then the seemingly uncontrollable libido of women got into the Greek literature and was further spread. The authors of iambic folk poetry from 7th and 6th century made fun of women until they formed the sterotype, from which the classical tragedy and comedy lived and changed into the general claiming of strict antifeminism of cynics. According to Bion, an ugly woman is a punishment /poiná/ and a beautiful woman belongs to all /koiná/. The idea, to which the vulgar Spanish poetry might react with a cruel refrain: "Better is the cake that you share than the shit that is yours." Similarly, this antifeminism was seen in so called miletian stories, which were erotic novels, rude jokes, which Greeks loved. They got their name from sinful ionis town Milet- known for passionate women. Also the novel Lukios e onos which is attached to Lukian, who describes this topic. The hero, Lucius sleeps in the house of Hiparch and sleeps with his servant Palestra. He accidentally puts cream of his wife and changes into a donkey. Life full of satisfying the lustfulness of Lakedaimose woman /other name of a Spartian woman/ and finally he changes into the man.
By the topic of exuberant lustfulness the poets make up epitetons as " a woman from a crazy garden" or insults as for example Archilochos to the mature Nebula, who bothers her: "Oh, this woman is a fat and spoilt whore." Or in the next passage: "Oh, she is too mature, the flower of her virginity and magic are lost, and though she is never satisfied. She is crazy. I do not want to get her again, because the neighbours will laugh at me! She is passionate and she is looking for friends! /Archilochos, page300,16/
We find an example in mythology which summarizes all misogyny thinking about Greeks and clumsiness of women, their treachery and tendency to cheat on husband.
The mother of Gods of Héra beautifies, so that she can fox her husband Zeus. That is why she borrowed from the Goddess of love Afrodite the magic belt, which has an ability to fox the hearts of men and subjugate them. When Zeus made love with her, he fell asleep as it is common in these cases of men who are tired of life. Foxy Goddess stopped him from helping Greek in Troja war. It was an initiative with which her husband would have never agreed.
Let us have a closer look at this topic, as Ilias speaks. Gods from above help in the fight of Greek and Trojans, in which Greek are not successful.
Here with a golden throne looked at him from the Olymp, from a big hill, where she was standing and she recognized her brother and brother in law and she was very happy in her heart as she saw him running around in fighting field, where he gains the fame. She also saw Zeus on the top of the hill of spring Ida, where he was sitting and became disgusting to her. Impressive Goddess with big eyes started to think, so that she could fox the spirit of Kronovec Zeus. Finally, she decided the following was the best purpose: to leave for Ida immediately, when she beautifies herself, if somebody longed for lying down with her, and then she would send him a pleasant sleep to his eyes and his deliberate mind. She went to her room immediately, it was built by her love. Hefaistos who closed the door thoroughly, no other God could open it. The Goddess entered and she closed the bright door, at first she washed herself with ambrosia and put an oil to her beautiful body and combed her hair and made plaited hair, beautiful and godlike. Then he wore Godlike gown which Ahténe wove for her smoothly and beautifully and buckled a lot of golden ornaments on her chest. She put the belt, hundreds of tassels glimmered on her. She put shiny ornaments with three stones from which shone beauty. At last, the Goddess put a new veil which shone white as the Sun. She wore pretty sandals on bright legs. Then she walked out of her room." /Ilias, Slovenský spisovateľ 1986, XIV, verses 153-189/
